Fun and Games

They always say, “Life isn’t all fun and games,” but I beg to differ. Life, my friend, is what you make it!

I know, you’re getting ready to say “but what about those down and cast out, they can’t choose their surroundings, or what about those who suffer from this or that, or….”

There are situations and circumstances that surround us that at times we just can’t change but the word of God says that we have a spirit of power, love, and of a sound mind (2 Tim 1:7).

We have control over our minds, and if we have control over our minds, then we have control over our thoughts! But it’s the getting from the knowing to the believing that is the hardest part for so many of us. You know “Lord, I believe; but PLEASE help my unbelief” -emphasis mine (Mark 9:24).

Why is depression infesting our society like a plague? The enemy’s goal is to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). He wants to steal our joy, kill our dreams, and destroy all that God wants to do in our lives.

But if we believe that all things are possible, then we have the certainty that Christ has come that we would have a spirit of love and self-control and a full and fulfilling life! He will make a way for us to find peace in the midst of the storm, courage when facing our fears, love when we feel empty, and joy in the darkest hour.

I love playing games with the girls at the Ecuador Hope House. Sometimes, they don’t want to play, they are grumpy or having a bad day, and that’s understandable, but once we start an activity, it’s not long before most of the girls are laughing. Many of these girls have come from the “impossible-no fun and games” situations. It’s been a long and weary road we’ve come through with so many of them. There have been long nights, hard stories, and rough patches, but there have also been amazing victories!

Changing our thought process and accepting God’s healing and spirit of power, love, and sound mind in the midst of heartache isn’t easy, but with God, it’s totally possible! These girls are living proof that Christ truly can turn that frown upside down!

Truths for us all:

1.      Know (God loves you)

2.      Believe (ask God to help you in your unbelief)

3.      Replace (negative lies from the enemy with positive truths from God)

4.      Endure (Keep going, never give up!)

Praying that the Lord shine his face upon you today, may he bless you, and guide you in all that you are and do!
